Requesting Items from the UW System and Beyond

Search for over 17 Million items from across UW System in the "Articles Books & More" box above.
For the best search experience, sign in to Search@UW before beginning your search. When you find an item that is not available at Polk Library, click the Get It tab and click on UW Request to request that an item be sent to Polk Library.
With a typical delivery time of 2-5 days, this is the fastest way to get books and other circulating items that you can't get from Polk Library. With this service, you have access to the materials in the libraries of all 26 of the University of Wisconsin System Universities. .
Distance Education students and instructors should only use this service if you are able to pick up your items at Polk Library; items requested through Search@UW using UW Request cannot be mailed to you. If you need an item mailed to you, please request that item through Interlibrary Loan.
Beyond UW System -- Search@UW, WorldCat & Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
By using Interlibrary Loan, you can request journal articles, books and more from other libraries across the country and even worldwide.
Search articles worldwide within Search@UW. Use the search box above and click "Expand My Results" to include articles that you can InterlibraryLoan from libraries around the world. When you find the right item, click the Get It tab to create an Interlibrary Loan Request.
To search Books & Media beyond the UW System, use Worldcat to search for materials and use the Place an ILL request link to request your materials easily.
If you can't find an item through any of these methods, use Interlibrary Loan to request it directly. Before making a request, please verify that we do not already own what you are looking for.
Distance Education users may borrow print materials owned by Polk Library by requesting them through Interlibrary Loan. Items will be mailed to your preferred address. Mailed items are subject to standard loan periods. Microfilm, reference books, and archives/geneological items cannot be delivered to students. You may wish to come to Polk Library to use these materials, or contact your local university or public library for availability in your area.
