I received a B.A. in Education Studies from Berea College where I also earned my Kentucky Teacher Certification for Elementary School (P-5). I received my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science with a specialization in School Media from Syracuse University as well as my School Library Media Certification (K-12).

Professional Background

I have been working in education and libraries since I was in high school. I worked at the Hutchins Library circulation desk during my undergraduate studies, where I also oversaw the children's collection and a story time program. While attending Syracuse University, I worked as a graduate assistant in the Center for Digital Literacy and the iSchool recruitment office. After earning my degree, I worked for many years as the School Library Media Coordinator at an elementary school in Raleigh, North Carolina, where I managed the library program and taught valuable information literacy skills to students.

University and Community Involvement

I serve the university as both a member of the Public Services team and the library liaison to the College of Education and Human Services. I teach as an adjunct instructor for the University of Wisconsin System School Library Education Collaboration, of which UWO is a member institution. I also serve on the Special Education Advisory Committee. As EMC Coordinator, I oversee outreach to the community about our K-12 curriculum collection and our upcoming story time program for preschool aged students. I am also the library liaison for CAPP, and work with multiple Wisconsin high school instructors to provide library instruction. I am also a member of a committee for the UWO Libraries' 2021-2023 Strategic Plan.
