Creating your ePortfolio

Access to ePortfolio:

  1. Log into D2L
  2. Click on the ePortfolio link at the bottom right of the screen
  3. Click on “My Items”

Upload Portfolio Documents:

  1. All documents (i.e. resume, cover letter, admittance essay) need to be scanned in as photo documents (.JPG format) in order to see them automatically without having to click on a link
  2. Click “Add” (green icon)
  3. Click “File Upload”
  4. Either drag files in or click upload and select file
  5. Click “Add” in the lower left corner
  6. Click “Next”
  7. Click “Save”
  8. Repeat for each document

To Create Portfolio:

  1. Under “My Items,” select “New Presentation”
  2. In the “Properties” tab, name the portfolio (i.e. Rich Marshall Admissions Portfolio)
  3. Click “Save”


  1. Click “Content/Layout.” Add each section of the portfolio (called pages) by clicking the “New Page” icon and add pages (Introductory, Cover Letter, Resume and Admissions Essay). Click “Save” for each.
  2. Once pages are created, click the “Add Component” box in the grey area. Select artifact and upload the document or documents for each section.
  3. For the introductory page, you may want to use the “Text Area” choice for content to include a list of the courses you are using to apply and next semester’s class schedule. This will pull up a text box similar to Word. You can modify the size, style, underline, bold, bullet, etc.


  1. Click “Banner.”
  2. Replace your name with “banner” in the “Banner Title” box. In the “Banner Description,” include your student ID, emphasis and email.


  1. Click on “Theme” tab and select a design for the portfolio
  2. When the confirmation tab comes up, click “Set Theme” (you can always go back in and change it)



  1. At any time you may preview the portfolio by clicking “View Presentation” at the upper part of the portfolio area (under the name)



  1. Click the reverse arrow next to the presentation name. Select “Share” and a new screen will come up. Click the box next to “Anyone with this URL below can access this item.”
  2. The portfolio URL link is included right below this area. This is the URL you will include in the electronic form you will complete through the department.
