University Accessibility

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is committed to actively fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion that promotes accessibility throughout its campuses and creates an accessible and inclusive experience for all members of our community. UW Oshkosh strives to ensure that individuals with disabilities not only have access, but are actively involved and valued in all that our University offers. Accessibility for all individuals ensures a University environment that welcomes diverse thought, perspective, and experience.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act, 1990 (ADA) provide that no qualified individual with a disability be denied access to or participation in services, programs, and activities at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. These acts, as well as Wisconsin state law and UW System and UW Oshkosh policy, apply to virtually all aspects of campus activities, including employment, student programming, and services provided to the community at large.

University Accessibility Updates

Action Trackchair (all-terrain wheelchair):

The University purchased an Action Trackchair for use by individuals on campus. An Action Trackchair is an all-terrain wheelchair.

Having this chair available provides individuals who require or benefit from mobility assistance the opportunity to join in on outdoor adventures and events that go off a paved path!

The UWO Action Trackchair can be checked out from the Outdoor Adventure Center at Student Recreation & Wellness Center!

Accessible UWO Go Vehicle:

The University has an accessible van for the UWO GO program. Having this accessible van enhances UWO Go’s ride service with a free transportation option for people using wheelchairs, scooters or other mobility aids!

Please vist the UWO Go website or call 920 424 1212 for additional information.

Accessible Parking & Snow Removal

Accessible Parking

UW Oshkosh has many accessible parking spots throughout campus. To use these spaces, you must have a university parking pass and a hang tag or license plate that permits use of accessible parking.

If you need to obtain an accessible parking placard or plate, you will need to submit a form to the DMV with information and a signature from your doctor. Visit the Wisconsin DMV website for more information about disability placards. The DMV in Oshkosh (2301 Omro Rd., Oshkosh, WI 54904) is a site that can issue these tags.

For parking maps or should you have questions about Parking Services or our parking regulations, please feel free to contact us at (920) 424-4455 or parking@uwosh.edu.

Winter Weather/Snow Removal

Facilities Management works diligently during winter weather conditions to clear parking lots and sidewalks on campus.

In general, a priority is placed upon the central corridor of campus that follows Algoma Blvd. from the entrance of Blackhawk Commons facing Taylor Hall to the northern edge of campus near the Arts and Communication Building. A second primary corridor follows from Reeve Union down the academic mall outside the Library all the way to A/C Building.

Snow can accumulate quickly.  Please plan accordingly for your campus navigation. Snow removal in the campus vicinity is a combination of University employees and city plow truck drivers.  As such, some crosswalks and sidewalk ramps might be blocked from time to time.  If you experience this, please call University Police at  920-424-1212 and they will notify campus facilities staff as quickly as possible to correct it.
