Graduate Special Student Applicant Next Steps

If you are applied for a certificate, see this website for next steps.

We welcome graduate special students for most of our graduate classes. Some classes are restricted to students pursuing a degree.

All graduate special students need to have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university, with a grade point average that meets the university’s minimums:

  • Full standing: 2.750 or higher overall (on a 4.00 scale) or 2.900 or higher for the last approximately 60 GPA credits
  • Probationary standing: 2.250 or higher overall, and 2.500 or higher for the last approximately 60 GPA credits
  • If you’re applying as a graduate special student for additional licensures or other programs, there may be additional GPA requirements

Before you send transcripts, we’d like to understand what your goals are, or what classes you’re planning to take, and make sure the class(es) have room for graduate special students:

  • If your application essay provided this information, we’ll contact you after we review your application
  • If you didn’t include that information in your application essay, please email this information to GradSchool@uwosh.edu
  • You can see what courses are available each semester here

If your class(es) are available, we’ll email you and ask you for a copy of the transcript showing your bachelor’s degree:

  • We can use an unofficial transcript to make your admission decision
  • We will need an official transcript within 30 days of beginning your class(es)
  • Send transcripts to UW Oshkosh Graduate School or GradSchool@uwosh.edu
    • If you sent transcripts somewhere else, forward the order delivery email to GradSchool@uwosh.edu
  • If you took fewer than 80 credits at the school that awarded your degree, we’ll need additional unofficial transcript(s) from school(s) you attended most recently before the school where you earned your degree, even if the transfer credits are listed on your transcript
    • We won’t need official transcripts for these school(s)
  • We can access transcripts you sent to our undergraduate or graduate school previously, and there’s no need to provide transcripts from UW Oshkosh
  • If you earned your bachelor’s degree outside the US, we’ll need a credential evaluation from an accredited evaluator

You should receive an email from GradSchool@uwosh.edu within two days of submitting your application.

Please email GradSchool@uwosh.edu if you have questions.
