Lab Facilities & Holdings

The Lab offers facilities for traditional, independent, general-access student work as well as for technology-based instruction of foreign languages using video and computer-based activities. Our facility features two large rooms; a 26-seat, teaching lab and a drop-in facility with 15-study carrels and casual seating, also featuring the Sanako Study-1200 technology with HP/Windows Platform CPUs. The Foreign Languages Multimedia instructional and drop-in computer labs are located in the Clow Classroom facility.

Reserving CC 252 - Instructional Computer Lab

Departmental instructors may reserve the instructional computer lab (Clow 252), for teaching in-class, controlled writing exercises, as well as using the Sanako 1200 system to record full classes or individual student oral production in the second language or to control computers for presentations or video assignments.

Reserving CC 254A - Small Break-Out / Viewing Room

Students may view DVDs in either the drop-in lab (Clow 254) or the Student Break-Out Room (Clow 254A) for small group viewing. Additionally, Students and Faculty can utilize Clow 254A for guided conversation practice or face-to-face oral examinations. Clow 254A comfortably seats 8 around a table and up to 12 students within the room.

Video Holdings in the Foreign Languages Multimedia Lab

The Lab Library has an extensive collection of Spanish, French and German VHS and DVD video materials that cover a wide range of subjects including language skills, music, literature, art and civilization. These materials may be checked out from the lab by DFLL instructors only. Students may view any of our video holdings in the Lab, but they must remain in the lab.
