Laboratory Manuals

by Mark Bowen last modified Dec 28, 2016 03:08 PM

Four laboratory manuals are available for download. One manual is designed for use in an upper-level introductory soil course. One manual is designed for an upper-level water resource management course.

Two manuals are designed for introductory physical geoscience courses. One manual is designed for a traditional classroom setting and incorporates a variety of high impact teaching practices such as research, collaborative work, and community-based learning. The second manual is designed for for use in online introductory physical geoscience courses. All exercises require students to have access to a computer with internet access, and students may need to be able to install software on that computer. Some exercises also require the student to have access to a printer, calculator, and ruler. No other equipment is required by the student or instructor. These exercises rely heavily on resources available on the internet, including Google Earth, US Topo, the Web Soil Survey, National Climate Data Center, U.S. Drought Mitigation Center, and others.
