Monday, March 16, 2:45 p.m. update:

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh will resume in-person classes and scheduled campus events beginning Tuesday morning.

We ask for patience and care as students and employees safely return to campus.

Facilities and grounds crews have made considerable progress clearing campus following the significant snowfall. We are grateful for their tireless efforts to restore safe access to university facilities.

Members of the campus community should be aware that parking availability will still be impacted as crews continue moving and managing the large volume of snow across campus. In addition, some campus lots and sidewalks may remain slick due to ice compacted beneath the final rounds of snowfall. Please allow extra time to travel, use caution when walking and driving, and remain mindful of crews continuing their work.

Facilities and grounds team members and colleagues working in student-facing student services offices should plan to report as scheduled unless otherwise directed by supervisors. All other employees are encouraged to connect with their supervisors and make plans to shift to remote work or service for Tuesday. A reduced number of vehicles on campus not only helps alleviate parking pressures but also gives our dedicated grounds crews greater ability to continue snow cleanup and removal across UWO parking lots.

Thank you all for your patience and care for one another during this winter storm.

Monday, March 16, 10 a.m update:

As our region continues to experience severe winter weather conditions, we are sharing an important operational update for today.

Due to the ongoing blizzard and hazardous travel conditions, the Student Recreation and Wellness Center and Polk Library will be closed for the remainder of today, Monday, March 16.

This action follows the university’s announcement yesterday that all in-person classes and campus events are canceled through Monday due to the winter storm affecting our region. We continue to monitor conditions closely and coordinate campus operations.

Dining Services will operate on a limited basis today. Blackhawk Commons and the Reeve Union Convenience Store will remain open until 7 p.m. Titan Underground in Reeve Union will be open until 10 p.m.

We strongly encourage members of our campus community to avoid unnecessary travel today and to prioritize your safety and the safety of others as road conditions remain difficult in many areas.

Students who planned to use library resources are encouraged to take advantage of the online library services and digital resources available remotely. Additional updates regarding campus operations will be shared as conditions evolve.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate this significant winter weather event together. Please stay safe, Titans.

Sunday, March 15 update:

Out of an abundance of caution, and with the safety of our students, faculty and staff members foremost in mind, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is immediately canceling all in-person classes and campus events today and through the entirety of Monday, March 16. This decision allows our facilities and grounds teams the time they need to address the significant winter weather affecting our region and helps ensure members of our campus community have time to make thoughtful travel decisions as we exit the weekend.

As we look ahead to Monday, the weather system moving through the region is expected to continue through much of the morning and may include ice, significant snow accumulations and strong winds. We recognize that many members of our campus community are also managing school and workplace disruptions for their families, and we want to support you as you make the best decisions for yourselves and those who depend on you.

Students and instructors: Please connect directly with one another regarding class plans, including remote learning options and any adjustments to course activities. Courses already scheduled to meet remotely will continue as planned. Instructors of face-to-face courses may choose to move their class online for the day and should communicate directly with their students if they decide to do so. We realize that there are many midterm exams and similar activities scheduled this week; please keep in mind that not all students can easily pivot to remote learning. Also, this storm may bring the potential for power outages that could impact students as well as instructors and staff members.

Faculty and staff members: Please coordinate with your colleagues, supervisors and/or direct reports regarding work coverage, remote-work options and any needed leave reporting.

At this time, the university remains open, but we are asking students and employees to stay home if possible. If your work or coursework can be completed remotely, please do so. If remote work is not possible, employees should use leave as appropriate. We encourage everyone to be flexible and to prioritize safety.

A few operational notes: Campus Dining services remain available with adjusted hours:

  • Today: In Reeve Union, Marketplace is open until 7:30 p.m.; Titan Underground until 10 p.m.
  • Monday: Blackhawk Commons is open 7:15 a.m.–8 p.m. Clow Academic Center and Sage Hall cafes are closed. Other locations may vary.
  • Hours may change to ensure employee safety. For timely updates, visit uwosh.edu/dining or uwoshkoshdining on Instagram.

UWO Go service will not run this evening but will resume Monday evening.

Finally, we extend deep gratitude to the many colleagues, especially our grounds and food service teams, who are working through challenging conditions to keep our campus safe, clear and navigable today and into the week ahead. Their dedication and care for our community make an extraordinary difference.

Please take care of yourselves and one another. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus for regularly scheduled classes and operations on Tuesday.
