How do I use the audio capture feature?

D2L gives instructors the ability to record short (6-minute) audio clips and attach them to news items, discussions, when creating a dropbox, or leaving feedback in the dropbox area.

Written Instructions

  1. Click on the heading from the navigation for the section of D2L where you would like to attach your audio clip. 
    NOTE: Audio capture is available when: creating a news item; replying to discussion post; when creating a dropbox, or when leaving feedback on a dropbox submission. 
  2. Click the appropriate button to create a new item.
  3. Locate the "Attachments" area of the form and click the Record Audio button.

  4. A window will appear that contains the audio recording options. Click the record button (red circle).
    NOTE: You may need to click "flash settings" to enable audio recording and to choose an input device. If you are unable to access flash settings, you may need to update your flash software through the Adobe website.

  5. Record your audio message and click the record button again to stop the recording.

  6. If desired, click the playback button to review the recording.
  7. If satisfied with the recording click the Add button in the lower right corner of the page.  If you are unhappy with your recording, click the Clear link and complete steps 4-7 again.
  8. When your recording has been added it will appear as attachment for students.
