OneClass Phishing Scam

In December 2016 we were informed of a malicious "OneClass" Chrome Extension that was part of a phishing scam. I


A malicious "OneClass" Chrome Extension is part of a current phishing scam which, if installed, may send email on students' behalf and also attempt to collect user credentials. This malicious extension is known to affect any LMS, regardless of brand, and takes advantage of unsuspecting users.

The extension is not available in the Chrome Extensions Store. Students are being phished via an email that encourages the installation by offering a link. The message content contains:

"Hey guys, I just found some really helpful notes for the upcoming exams for <University Name> courses at  I highly recommend signing up fro an account now that way your first download is free!"

What to do if you receive this email

If you receive an email similar to the one quoted above, DO NOT click the provided link.  Instead, please delete the message and notify the UW Oshkosh Help Desk at 920-424-3020.

What to do if you clicked the provided link

If you have already clicked the link provided in the email, please remove the extension from the Chrome browser immediately. To complete this action follow the steps below. 
  1. Open Chrome and enter chrome://extensions into the url field.

  2. Locate the "OneClass Easy Invite" extension and click the trashcan adjacent to it.

  3. Select Remove on the Confirm Removal Popup

  4. Close all Chrome windows and go back to the Extension page to verify the extension has been removed.

  5. Reset passwords.
