Step One: Create the Twitter Widget

  1. Log in to your twitter account.
  2. Click on your photo in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Choose Settings from the dropdown.
  4. Click on Widgets from the panel on the left.
  5. Click the Create new button near the top of the page.
  6. Choose Search from the dropdown menu. 
  7. Complete fields as desired.
    • Search query: you are going to put hash tag (#) what ever you want to have show up (example #athletictraining)
      you are most likely going to want to have the safe mode on.
    • Options: Show only top tweets and safe search mode
    • Height: How tall would you like the widget to be?  This may depend on what other items you want to appear on the page. 
    • Theme: is the color of the background you can either choose form light or dark
      NOTE :
      on the right had side of the page you can see all the changes that you are making and you can see what they look like.
    • Link color: you can chose any color that you would like to show up on things like you hash tags .
    • Opt-out of tailoring twitter: click on the heck box next to it
  8. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.  
  9. Copy the embed code at the bottom of the page.

Step 2: Create the Widget in D2L

  1. Click Edit Course in the upper right corner.
  2. Click Widget
  3. Click Create Widget
  4. Enter a title for the widget in the Name Field
  5. Click the Content Tab
  6. In the content editor box, click the Insert Stuff button.
  7. Click Embed code from the panel on the left.
  8. Paste the text copied from twitter into the space provided.
  9. Click Next
  10. Click Insert
  11. Click Save and Close
