The News section of D2L is the first thing students see when they enter your course site. It is a good idea to include at least one news item.

Written Instructions

  1. Click the dropdown next to "News" and select New News Item.
  2. Headline: Give the news item a title.
  3. Content: Enter your message in the space provided.
  4. Availability: Availability refers to the time that the news item will be visible.  The default is set to "now", but can automatically appear by setting a future time in the Start date.
  5. Attachments: (Optional) Add a file from your computer or record audio for your students to hear.
  6. Additional Release Conditions: (Optional) Once Create and Attach is selected, a new window will appear.  The drop down menu will list a variety of actions that students can/should meet before the news item will appear to them.
  7. Click Publish to save and have News Item appear (or appear on the desired date), or Save as Draft to save and publish a later time.
