How do I add an RSS feed to a section of D2L?

Instructors can add an RSS feed from Google Reader to the Content, Discussions, or News sections of D2L. Note: These instructions only direct users to embed a Google Reader RSS feed.

Step 1: Creating the Embed Code

  1. Find the desired RSS Feed.
  2. Highlight and copy the RSS Feed url (Right click then Copy, or Ctrl/Command + C).
  3. In another tab or window, go to Feed2JS.  This is where the JavaScript code will be created.
  4. In the URL Enter the web address of the RSS Feed field, paste the url feed.
  5. Modify the remaining fields as desired.  Use the Preview Feed button on the right to see how changes will affect your widget.
  6. When satisfied with the feed, click Generate JavaScript found on the right side of the screen.
  7. The screen will change and a field labeled Get Your Code Here will contain two blocks of code. Highlight the first block of code, and copy it. (Right click then Copy, or Ctrl/Command + C).

Step 2: Adding the RSS Feed to D2L

    1. Click Edit Course in the upper right corner.
    2. Click Widget
    3. Click Create Widget
    4. Enter a title for the widget in the Name Field
    5. Click the Content Tab
    6. In the content editor box, click the Insert Stuff button.
    7. Click Embed code from the panel on the left.
    8. Paste the text copied from twitter into the space provided.
    9. Click Next
    10. Click Insert
    11. Click Save and Close
