We know that suicide is preventable, and we know that everyone can help in doing this work. This is why there is a training available for students and for faculty/staff in learning the signs and how to respond when you’re concerned about someone experiencing suicidal thoughts.
Recognize, Respond, Refer (RRR) is a suicide prevention/gatekeeper training that teaches non-mental health professionals the knowledge and skills needed to recognize signs of distress and make referrals to appropriate resources. This is a core component of a comprehensive suicide prevention strategy.

Recognize, Respond, Refer (RRR): Suicide Prevention Training for UW Undergraduate Students (2025) is a multi-part, online program that provides information and guidance for students around intervening to support a peer and preventing suicide. This training is one part of a broader suicide prevention strategy on campus.
The RRR training is available to be enrolled in through Canvas. You can add it to your account by clicking here: https://uws-td.instructure.com/enroll/J7JW3H. Please reach out to us by phone or email if you have any issues with it.
For Faculty/Staff
Currently, the faculty/staff version of the Recognize, Respond, Refer (RRR) training is in the process of being added to Workday. We expect it to go live around October 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
