Counseling Center Frequency Asked Questions
There are plenty of questions that folks will have about the Counseling Center and the services that we provide. Here are some of the frequently asked questions that we often get:
Q: How do I make an appointment?
A: An appointment to meet with a counselor can be scheduled by calling (920.424.2061) or stopping by the front desk (Student Success Center, Suite 240). You will be asked a few questions to help determine how we can best support you.
Q: What are the Counseling Center hours?
A: Semester hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Q: Do I have to pay for counseling sessions?
A: No – all currently enrolled students are eligible for counseling services at no cost!
Q: Why do students go to the Counseling Center?
A: We are here to support your mental health and wellness. Students connect with the Center for a wide variety of reasons! The most common concerns are anxiety, stress and stress management, depression, mood swings, procrastination, concentration, relationship concerns, social discomfort, and adjustment related distress.
Q: What is counseling like at the Center?
A: Most often a combination of services is the most helpful for students – e.g. individual counseling sessions, workshops or group counseling, exploring on-line support services, etc.
Q: Does the Counseling Center have virtual appointments?
A: Yes! The Center offers counseling both in-person and virtually. We also have a collaborative partner, Mantra Health, that provides free telehealth and telepsychiatry services.
Q: Can I come to the Counseling Center if I’m not seeing a counselor?
A: Yes! Please come in to check out our Self-Care Rooms and Quiet Study Spaces!
Q: Do you have crisis services?
A: Yes! If you feel that you are having a mental health emergency – you can call the Center or walk in for an on-call appointment. You can connect with 24/7 crisis support through our main phone number (920.424.2061) and selecting ‘option 2’
Q: What can I do if I am too anxious to call or walk in to schedule an appointment?
A: Complete a referral form and a counselor will reach out to you within the next business day to talk about how we can help. You can also submit a referral form if you are concerned for another student. **If you feel that you are in crisis – please utilize emergency resources rather than submitting a referral form.
Q: Are there emergency resources other than the Counseling Center?
A: Yes! If you feel that you are in crisis, please utilize any of the following:
