UWO Counseling Center Accreditation

The Counseling Center is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS), the accreditation association for university and college counseling centers. Through this accreditation process, the Counseling Center was found to offer outstanding professional services to its clientele in compliance with the IACS Standards, the highest standards available for campus counseling centers.

IACS accreditation indicates that a counseling center opened its doors to a team of counseling professionals who reviewed and certified that its services meet the highest established standards in the field. This recognized stamp of validation holds value for the center, the school, students and their parents.  IACS is committed to advancing quality in student mental health care in higher education settings worldwide.

• validates professional excellence, and
• distinguishes standout counseling centers.

This process is an ongoing opportunity to ensure that we are aligned with the highest standards of operation. Thus, we must complete the renewal process every 8 years to maintain accreditation. Part of this process includes having a site visit to facilitate ethical peer review of our center and services. We were initially accredited in 2019, but have to be approved with our annual report and re-attestation each year.
