Blog Entry for Week Ending April 21

For Monday of this week we had to compare OpenMRS's data model to Hibernate configuration files. In lab we practiced with the design pattern REST. And we used Flask and Postman to connect to our OpenMRS servers and retrieve data. I learned more about GET, PUT, and POST. My group has planned to meet this weekend to check where we all are on our project’s progress. I stated a few blogs ago that I would look into MrBob for creating custom add-ons and I did this week. I managed to create, install and get a custom add-on up on my Plone website.

My obstacle from before was I couldn’t use any mrbob commands which is needed for the add-ons. I Googled through multiple Plone websites and found one that gave a full example of what the buildout.cfg should look like. Then even after being able to install mrbob and creating a custom add-on I wasn’t able to add it to my site as easily as easyforms. I Googled and a site told me I needed to add something else to my buildout.cfg to add my add-on to Plone and that worked.

I learned how to create custom add-ons. Still working on editing them further than their default files. Very minimal but understanding how contents of an add-on connect and communicate with Plone.

I want to be able to edit custom add-ons or expand off another already established add-on. While playing around with creating and learning more about add-ons I think we might want to try and just expand on an already created add-on if possible.
