Blog Entry for the Week Ending April 7th

by Hilgendorf, Grady last modified Apr 07, 2017 07:59 PM
A re-cap of things that I did during this week, problems I have run into, and what I plan to accomplish before the next post. Week 1: April 2nd - April 7th.

Class Progress

MVC and OpenMRS

This week for you individual time, we were tasked to modify the Model View Controler (MVC) for an open source project called OpenMRS, which deals with medical records and the issuing of medication. We were tasked with adding two columns of data to our personal module that we made a couple weeks ago. We were also tasked with adding another set of data to the module following similar patterns modeled in the project.

Team Project

We have made great progress to the team project in the past week. We have the scripts for Bash and Python that collect and install the packages we need to possibly run Plone on a Windows 10 machine. Our group has run into an issue in our group though. It seems that one of our members is going to be leaving us. Although he is leaving, he has told us that he will still help us on the project even if it is through communicating with us and not actively participating.

Individual Project

I talked to my professor this past week about my project that I was to add to for the last couple weeks. He told me that I am able to work on it for a couple more days to figure out the issue I was having with changing the current code to work with any data. The process he suggested involved changing my threshold for the minimum point of taking a step up a stair by small margins to find an ideal point. As well as looking at how the data is converted into a single number instead of three separate directions (x,y, and z).

Goal for Next week

My plan is to finish the changes to my individual project by Wednesday and be sure that I get a different result than what the actual step count returns. With my group project, I am helping kyle with the simple style GUI that the pyinstaller had to make it useful to our cause.

I'm looking forward to the next week and the decent load of work I have planned for.
