DEPARTMENT UPDATES
- Drew Whiting (Music) performed Ed Martin’s (Music) composition “Aria” for baritone saxophone and electronics at the Splice Festival on Thursday, January 23rd at Western Michigan University. “Aria” was also featured in a radio segment on WMKU in which the Splice Festival director played an excerpt and discussed aspects of the composition while promoting the festival. - Ziyuan Wang (Mathematics) presented the paper “Extending a priori procedure for simultaneously estimating location and scale parameters in the context of skew normal distributions,” at the Eighth International Econometric Conference of Vietnam.
FACULTY RESEARCH
- Kim Calvert (Kinesiology) was the lead author on a paper by the NATA Professional Education Committee titled “Immersive Clinical Education Experiences in Athletic Training: A Report From the NATA Professional Education Committee” in the Athletic Training Education Journal.
- Kyle Petit (Kinesiology) was awarded a $10,000 WiSys Spark Grant for his project “The Effects of Concentrated Oxygen on Oxygen Saturation Within the Brain.”
STUDENT NEWS
- Members of the Psychology department and the Psi Chi honor society participated in the Polar Plunge and raised over $1,100. Jumpers included Quin Chrobak, Wyllow Garton, AJ Moore, Megan Smith, and Emily Kliefoth
