DEAN’S NOTE
Our rescheduled all-college meeting will take place Friday, December 6, 3:00-4:00 pm in Sage 1232 and via Teams. The Faculty Committee will be sharing the agenda in advance of the meeting. Today’s planned Faculty Showcase featuring Bill Gillard (English) has been canceled and will be rescheduled for a future date. Also don’t forget to RSVP for the COLS holiday open house!
IN THE NEWS
The documentary Closure is being shown on the Fox Cities Campus on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 PM in Room 1229. This documentary describes the events that led to the UW System closing several UW campuses and includes the final days of UWO-Fond du Lac. The screening is sponsored by the Elisha D. Smith Public Library in Menasha, which is currently operating out of the Fox Campus while they finish renovations.
DEPARTMENT UPDATES
- OnlineU named the Fire & Emergency Response Management Program #3 on the 2024 list of best online bachelor’s degrees in fire science by affordability. In addition to highlighting the excellent value, the rankings list noted: “Coupling this affordability with a strong 80% recommendation rate, you can be confident in the positive experiences reported by previous students.”
- Bill Gillard (English) delivered two lectures in the community in November, both on Wisconsin Author Robert Bloch. Nearly one hundred people attended “How Psycho Became Psycho” at Winchester Academy at the Waupaca Public Library on November 11. At the Weyauwega International Film Festival two days later, he introduced the Hitchcock film and then moderated a lively discussion afterward.
