DEPARTMENT UPDATES
- Pianist Eli Kalman (Music) and cellist Parry Karp from UW Madison presented a DUO RECITAL on Wednesday, October 30th. The Duo presents an extravagantly romantic repertoire for cello and piano written by Bloch, Beethoven and Rachmaninov.
- Nenad Stojilovic (Physics and Astronomy) gave a talk entitled “Frequent testing as a learning tool” at Fall 2024 Joint Meeting of the Wisconsin and Illinois Sections of the American Association of Physics Teachers in Rockford, Illinois.
- Juan Garcia Oyervides (Global Languages and Cultures/Chicana/o and Latinx Studies) and Margaret Huettl (History/Indigenous Studies) presented at the Western History Association conference in Kansas City as part of a panel on reclaiming space and identity through art alongside Ioway filmmaker Rebekka Schlichting. Juan presented a paper entitled “Translating Racialized Identities in Xavier Tizoc Martinez’s Self-Portraiture,” and Margaret presented “Minwaajimo (She Tells a Good Story): (Re)Inscribing Anishinaabewaki across Generations.”

FACULTY RESEARCH
- Ben Birkinbine (AMP) published a new book in his co-edited book series, Global Media Giants. The book is titled, News Corp: Empire of Influence and was written by Graham Murdock, Benedetta Brevini, and Michael Ward (Routledge, 2024).
