DEAN’S NOTE
Massive thanks to everyone who made this year’s Titans Day of Giving such a success! Last year UWO received 124 gifts totaling a little over $31,000, and this year to date we have raised over $80,000 from 367 donors. In COLS we went from 28 gifts last year to 71 donors and counting this year. And thanks too to everyone who had a chance to drop by the back to school social yesterday at Lakeshore Park Pavilion. I’ve included a few photos below.
DEPARTMENT UPDATES
- Eric Saeger (Engineering and Engineering Technology) will be presenting at the Roll-to-Roll (R2R) USA Conference in Charlotte, NC on September 24, put on by the Association for Roll-to-Roll Converters. His presentation, “People Behind the Project,” overlaps with his teaching as well as his role in industry.
FACULTY RESEARCH
- Jessica Lucas (Biology) has published the paper “Plant Kinesin Repertoires Expand with New Domain Architecture and Contract with the Loss of Flagella,” which she unofficially titles “Some plant have motile sperm like humans,” in the Journal of Molecular Evolution.
UPCOMING EVENTS
- The Faculty Committee has set the times for all-college meetings this semester: Friday, September 27, 3:00 pm; Friday, October 25, 3:00 pm (all-college social); and Friday, November 22, 3:00 pm. Locations and more information will be shared in the coming weeks.
