DEAN’S NOTE
I wanted to give everyone in the college a heads up that Titans Day of Giving will take place early in the fall semester, on September 12. Last year COLS raised more money and had more individual gifts than any other unit at the university. We want to build on our past success and really engage our alumni and communities again this year. If your departments and programs have social media accounts or alumni lists this is a great opportunity to raise some awareness of our great programs and some funds for our great students!
IN THE NEWS
My thanks and congratulations to Claire Armstrong and the COLS department assistants for their organization and heavy lifting in the recycling drive, which ended today. We filled up 34 large containers that hold approximately 750-1,000 volumes each, so we have recycled approximately 30,000 journal issues, textbooks, and other bound materials. This is in addition to the other campus cleanup work that Claire and the department assistants have been undertaking to get rid of old furniture and other clutter from our academic spaces. Amazing work, everyone!
