What is Human Resource Management?
Human Resource majors help organizations manage employees. They learn to recruit employees, develop training programs, manage pay systems and benefit plans, motivate and reward desired behaviors and help set strategic direction. Human resource managers are at the heart of dynamic events and changes such as mergers, downsizing, entering international business and adopting quality management processes. They implement and often lead to cultural changes associated with these steps.

To prepare students for a career in human resource management, our courses emphasize mastery of HR concepts, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication through individual and small group projects. The members of our faculty have applied experience and diverse expertise in areas such as mediation and facilitation, occupational safety and health, employee relations, survey design and implementation, data analysis, benefits administration, aging in the workforce, training and development, recruitment and selection, performance management, and strategic planning.
