Information for Economics Students

Admission to the College

Students at UW Oshkosh can be admitted into the College of Business after they have earned the minimum of credits, have completed their business pre-core courses and have met a minimum GPA and grade requirement. Read the full College of Business Admission requirements and processes.

Students do not formally apply for admission in the College of Letters and Science, they need only declare one of the different economics emphasis as their major, which can be done at the UWO Student Success Center, or by visiting the Economics Department in Sage Hall.

Academic Advising

A student’s academic advisor is listed on their TitanWeb account as well as on their Navigate profile. Students are assigned an academic advisor according to their admission status (pre-business or admitted).

Advisors: Students not admitted to the College are assigned an academic advisor in the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center (UARC) in the Student Success Center Suite 202 or Student Support Services (SSS) located in the Campus Center for Equity and Diversity. Students meet with their academic advisor regularly to explore majors and discuss their career and academic goals. Students can call (920) 424-1268 to make an appointment or schedule a Same-Day Service with a UARC advisor. Students assigned an advisor from Student Support Services can call (920) 424-1310.

Faculty Advisors: Once declaring an economics major, a student is assigned a faculty advisor from the department of their major. Faculty advisors guide students in their academic requirements and specific career goals for their major field of study.

What to do if a Class is Full

Many business classes reach their enrollment maximums each semester, and the College of Business has adopted a policy to ensure students get seats in the classes they need. View the policy and for more information.
