Results of undergraduate chemistry research projects were presented by Connor Jensen, “Crystalline structure analysis of selected titania-based nanofibers”; Jakob Rucinski, “Synthesis of short chain PET oligomers for use in biodegradation studies”; Dylan Stone, “Microplastics in the Laurentian Great Lakes Watershed as a vector for toxicant transport and their capacity as environmental reactionary surfaces”; and Daisy Wilson, “Development of a greener Friedel-Crafts experiment for the undergraduate laboratory curriculum”. Chemistry Alumni giving presentations included Cody Beck, “Quantitative approach to measuring outcome expectations in undergraduate chemistry students”; Dr. Jennifer Dahl, “Mechanical properties of organic-inorganic composite films: Compressive resistance of flexible vs. rigid organic components”; and Christopher Turoski, “Intellectual Property: An alternative career path for chemists”.

From the Chemistry faculty, Dr. Christus presented “ADVANCE-ing equity in STEM departments at primarily undergraduate institutions”; Dr. Crawford organized the Environmental Chemistry symposium and presented “Assessment of copper, lead, and PAHs in soils and plants in 10-year old stormwater biofilters”; Dr. Gutow organized the Physical Chemistry symposium and presented “Open source tools to facilitate teaching of skills needed by chemists”; Dr. Kedrowski organized the Green Chemistry symposium; Dr. Lense organized the Inorganic Chemistry symposium and presented “Design of manganese-selective ligands for use in manganese(II) fluorescent sensors”; Dr. Mihalick organized a symposium on ACS’ Core Value of Inclusion and Belonging, and presented “Introduction to the Chemistry of Materials: A sustainability-themed general education course”; and Dr. Rukamp presented “Anxiety in science education: Identifying patterns and vulnerable populations in post-pandemic college classrooms”.
Dr. Lense won the raffle for a Periodic Table blanket.
For the GLRM 2025 local organizing committee, Dr. Hammers served as General Co-Chair and Dr. Mihalick served as Program Co-Chair.
