Dear students, colleagues, and friends,

As I drove onto campus this morning under a misty sky, I initially thought the cloudy weather was not the most uplifting way to begin the first day of a new academic year. But that moment quickly passed. As I stepped out of my car, I was greeted by the smiles, energy, and excitement of students heading eagerly to their classes. Instantly, the entire campus was filled with light—radiating not from the sky, but from the joy, hope, and optimism of our Titan community.

Walking alongside our students—many of whom were on their way to their very first college class—I was reminded once again of how profoundly blessed I am to be part of their journey. These first steps they take on our walkways are also their first strides toward lives of dignity, pride, purpose, and abundance.

To every student who has chosen the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh as their academic home and their partner in pursuing their dreams—welcome. We are honored by your trust, and we are excited to walk this journey with you. This semester is a time for learning, for self-discovery, and for unlocking the vast potential within each of you. It is a time to build friendships, form meaningful bonds, and explore the joys of discovery in a community that believes in your brilliance. Be bold, be curious, and above all—be yourself. This is your time to thrive.
