A message of reassurance: We are dedicated to your success

Dear students,

I understand this week’s news about employee layoffs at our three campuses and the end of classes in June 2024 at UWO Fond du Lac has been unsettling. I want to take a moment to address your concerns, provide reassurance and express our unwavering commitment to your education and well-being.

First and foremost, I want to acknowledge that these decisions have impacted not just our staff and faculty, but each of you as well. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

Campuses are strong

Despite the necessary changes, we want to emphasize that the Oshkosh and Fox Cities campuses will remain open and are strong, vibrant and committed to providing an exceptional educational experience. Spring classes will be held on all three of our campuses. Classes will not be held at the Fond du Lac campus beginning with the fall 2024 semester.

We will continue to offer the same high-quality education and support you have come to expect from UW Oshkosh.

Dedicated to your success

Rest assured, our commitment to your success is unwavering. We understand the importance of the support, resources and guidance you need to thrive on your academic journey. UWO is dedicated to providing you with the same level of support and services you have relied on in the past.

We are actively working to ensure a seamless transition to the Oshkosh or Fox Cities campus for students affected by next summer’s Fond du Lac campus closure, with minimal disruptions to your academic progress. Our advisors, counselors and faculty are ready to assist you in this process and we encourage you to reach out if you have questions or need assistance.

Communication

Your feedback is essential to us. We will continue to communicate updates and information related to the transitions and provide opportunities for you to voice your concerns and ask questions. We are here to listen. I also want to thank your Oshkosh Student Government leaders for organizing a 5:30 p.m. Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in Reeve Memorial Union Theatre, 307. I look forward to participating. I hope you will, too. I am certain reminders will be shared with you as the date approaches.

You are not alone

We understand this may be a challenging time for many of you, and we want to remind you that you are not alone on this journey. Our University community is here to support you, and we encourage you to lean on one another for support and encouragement.

I am confident that with your resilience and determination, and our unwavering commitment to your success, you will continue to excel in your studies and achieve your academic goals.

Thank you for being a part of UW Oshkosh. Your wellbeing and success are at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to supporting you throughout your academic journey.
