UWO’s Drive Toward Becoming an Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution
We are happy to announce that UWO is working on becoming an Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution. During this year’s Provost’s Summit, you will be able to engage with a panel of experts, learn about holistic practices, and hear from Latino alum and students about making UWO a welcoming and inclusive campus for our Latina/o/x students.
Day 1 - Panel Discussion: Becoming an Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution
Bringing together experts from across Wisconsin, this panel explores how the prospect of become an emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution responds to the contemporary needs of a diverse local, regional, and national society. The panel will provide insights into how this initiative will serve UWO students, faculty, and staff by cultivating a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable University.

Day 2 - Vamos Titans! Making UWO a Home for Latino Students
This panel works from the basis that student success derives from more than just the pursuit of grades. It will look holistically at a wide range of factors that converge to create a caring community that, then, fosters student achievement. Panelists will discuss strategies to support Latina/o/x students from orientation to graduation.

Day 3 - Voces Latinas at UWO
In this session, Latina/o/x voices from UWO Alumni, students, and family members will provide an open reflection on what it is like to be a Latina/o/x student at UWO. Participants will talk about their perspectives, experiences, histories, and more, to show both the positive dimensions and the challenging aspects of living in the UWO community and striving to be successful.
