Inviting Students into the Conversation: An Interactive Session on Teaching and Assessing Writing across the Disciplines

Description

Led by a panel of experts in writing, writing assessment, and writing instruction, this session will introduce participants to key principles from the field of writing studies, and invite participants to reflect on their goals in assigning writing or incorporating writing tasks into their classes. The relationship between academic writing, equity, and assessment will be an important focus of the session. Interactive and reflective activities will give participants an opportunity to create meaningful writing assignments that encourage students to discover the connection between academic writing and their own writing experiences, identities, and communities.
