Dementia Trainings
Challenging Behavioral Specialist Train-the-Trainer (Classroom Training)
This 6-hour classroom training provides qualified individuals the necessary information and materials to train staff and/or others working with people living with dementia to become Challenging Behavioral Specialists.
Upon successful completion of the course and the online final assessment, trainers get listed as “Approved Instructors” on a publicly accessible online registry maintained by UWO CCDET and will be eligible to apply for CEUs. Course information are now available at: http://www.uwosh.edu/dementia

Wisconsin Dementia Care Project (Online Training)
A series of online trainings related to dementia care for crisis responders, caregivers, healthcare providers, family and community members and other professionals is available. This training series is offered as part of the Wisconsin Dementia Care System Redesign and includes the following online trainings:
- Generalist for Healthcare Providers (3-hour online training) $45
- Crisis Response (4-hour online training) $60
- Generalist for Family and Friends (2-hour online training) $25
- Generalist for Community Members Train-the Trainer (1-hour online training) $25
- Dementia Specialist Designation (4-hour online training) $60
- Specialist Courses (1-hour online training) $25

Caregivers SOAR! Train-the-Trainer (Classroom Training)
This 4-hour classroom training promotes job satisfaction and retention among caregivers in long-term care, with a focus on soft-skills training. Topics include communication skills, sympathy vs. empathy, conflict resolution dependability, professionalism and relationship building in the workplace.
Individuals attending the training will have access to ready-made training materials to train staff members.
Increasing Safety by Preventing Violence (Online Training)
The purpose of this 2-hour online training is to reduce the incidence of workplace violence in residential care facilities, increase the quality of life for residents and help ensure the safety of frail and elderly residents. The cost of this training is $25 per person.
