Intended Audience: Individuals responsible for conducting background checks on employees and contractors in DQA-regulated settings.  

This 3-hour workshop provides a step-by-step guide to completing a comprehensive Caregiver Background Check. Participants will learn how to: 

  1. Determine Covered Providers 
  2. Identify Covered Individuals 
  3. Complete a Caregiver Background Check 
  4. Evaluate Background Check Responses 
  5. Take Appropriate Action 

The session will also include answers to frequently asked questions from DQA, along with practical tips to support an effective background check process.

Investigating and Reporting Allegations of Misconduct: Meeting State Regulations

Intended Audience: Individuals responsible for investigating and reporting allegations of misconduct in state-licensed/certified DQA-regulated facilities. 

This 4-hour workshop will help participants understand the key components of conducting internal investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation. Participants will develop an investigation protocol while learning about: 

  1. Conducting investigations 
  2. Interviewing techniques 
  3. Definitions of caregiver misconduct 
  4. Reporting requirements for state-licensed/certified providers, including assisted living, home care, and mental health & substance use treatment providers 

(Note: For federally certified SNFs, ICFs/IID, and swing bed hospitals, please see the “Investigating and Reporting for Federal Providers” workshop.)

Intended Audience: Individuals responsible for investigating and reporting allegations of mistreatment in federally certified skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICFs/IID), and swing bed hospitals. 

This 4-hour workshop will help participants understand the key components of conducting internal investigations into allegations of misconduct and mistreatment—including resident-to-resident altercations. The session will focus on: 

  1. Prevention strategies 
  2. Federal definitions of misconduct and mistreatment 
  3. Conducting investigations, including interviewing techniques 
  4. Reporting requirements for federally certified providers (SNFs, ICFs/IID, swing bed hospitals) 
  5. Common compliance concerns

This 4-hour workshop outlines essential onboarding steps for newly licensed or certified entities seeking to meet regulatory requirements. Established providers will also benefit from a review of ongoing compliance expectations. Topics include: 

  1. Chapter 50 requirements 
  2. Provider-specific administrative requirement quick reference charts for ADC, AFH, CBRF, HHA, Hospice, PCA, and RCAC providers 
  3. Survey guides
