INTENDED AUDIENCE: Individuals responsible for conducting background checks on employees and contractors for DQA-regulated settings.
This 3-hour workshop covers the five basic steps to completing a full Caregiver Background Check:
- Determine Covered Providers
- Identify Covered Individuals
- Complete a Caregiver Background Check
- Evaluate Background Check Responses
- Take Appropriate Action
Also included are answers to questions that are frequently asked of DQA as well as tips for supporting the caregiver background check process.

Investigating and Reporting Allegations of Misconduct: Meeting State Regulations - Updated in 2024
Intended Audience: Individuals responsible for investigating and reporting allegations of misconduct in state licensed/certified DQA-regulated facilities.
This 4-hour workshop will help participants identify the key components of conducting internal investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation. We will develop an investigation protocol while learning about:
· Conducting an investigation
· Interviewing skills
· Caregiver misconduct definitions
· Reporting requirements for state licensed/certified providers, including assisted living, homecare, mental health & substance use treatment providers (see below for federally certified SNFs, ICFs/IID, swing bed hospitals)

Intended Audience: Individuals responsible for investigating and reporting allegations of mistreatment in federally certified skilled nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and swing bed hospitals.
This 4-hour workshop will help participants identify the key components of conducting internal investigations into allegations of misconduct and mistreatment, including resident-to-resident altercations, focusing on:

· Federal misconduct and mistreatment definitions
· Conducting an investigation, including interviewing skills
