Career & Professional Development (CPD)
We are focusing on three key priorities in collaboration with faculty and campus partners:
- Increasing student engagement at the Internship & Career Fair
The Internship & Career Fair on Monday, March 2, 2026 is a powerful resource not only for juniors and seniors applying for internships and jobs, but also for first-year and undecided students exploring possibilities. Faculty encouragement is one of the most effective ways to ensure students attend. By connecting course assignments, class announcements, or offering extra credit opportunities tied to the fair, faculty can help normalize career exploration as part of the college experience. Find more resources Here. - Embedding Career Readiness Competencies into the classroom
The NACE Career Readiness Competencies—including communication, critical thinking, teamwork, professionalism, leadership, technology, equity & inclusion, and career & self-development—provide a framework for the skills employers value most. Many of these competencies are already embedded in course assignments, experiential learning, and co-curricular activities; the opportunity lies in helping students name and articulate the skills they are building. Tools like syllabus competency mapping can make career connections visible without changing course content, empowering students to translate their learning into workplace language. - Developing campus-wide career readiness learning outcomes
We are will be launching institution-wide outcomes that connect academic learning with career development. By aligning classroom learning with shared career readiness goals, we can help students graduate with the confidence to explain how their education has prepared them for professional success.
Together, these priorities will move us closer to a Career Everywhere culture—where career readiness is not an add-on, but an integrated part of every student’s educational journey.

Encourage Students to Use Peer Academic Coaching through Progress Reports
As you begin submitting your Spring 2026 Progress Reports/Ad Hoc Alerts (formerly Early Alerts), please keep in mind the valuable support available through our Peer Academic Coaching Program. Peer Academic Coaching connects students with trained Peer Academic Coaches who offer encouraging, personalized guidance to help students thrive throughout the semester. Coaches work with students on time management, organization, motivation, goal setting, note-taking, academic reading and preparing for exams. Your referrals and positive encouragement make a meaningful difference in helping students access this resource early—setting them up for a successful semester.

Faculty Advisor Assignments
Students who have a declared major, minimum 2.0 GPA and 30 or more completed credits or were admitted to their program* at the conclusion of the Fall 2025 semester have been reassigned to a faculty advisor in their program. Faculty advisors should begin reaching out to their assigned caseload now. Outreach could include a welcome message, general check-in on spring semester, invitation for advising via appointment campaign and/or other important advising information.
Faculty advisors play an essential role in promoting and supporting on‑time registration, which helps students plan effectively and make consistent progress toward their degrees. Research continues to show that strong, meaningful relationships with faculty are a key factor in student persistence and retention.

*Exception: Students in admission-based and fully online programs will not be reassigned to a faculty advisor based on the new criteria.
