Welcome message for advisees
Your advising caseload for the Fall 2025 semester is now visible in Navigate. You can see your assigned advisees on your “Staff” homepage in Navigate (this is different from your “Professor” homepage), and you can easily send all your advisees a welcome email (instructions). Here is a Sample Welcome Letter to help you get started.
UARC Drop-ins
Open Advising ends September 9. Starting on September 10 students with an assigned advisor in the UARC can schedule appointments via Navigate. Students assigned to faculty advisors can receive “supplemental” advising in the UARC during Drop-in hours. AFTER meeting with a faculty advisor, students can use drop-ins for:
- Quick, 5-minute questions
- Appointment follow-up, clarification
- Assistance with completing forms (appeal to repeat, credit overload, etc.)
- Registration errors/issues

Graduation Application Deadline:
- Students wanting to graduate in Fall 2025 – deadline to apply is October 31, 2025.
- Students wanting to graduate in Spring 2026 – deadline to apply is March 31, 2026.
- Add/Drop calendar and registration information for Spring 26, May-Term 26 and Summer 26 has been updated on Registrar’s Office website: Add/Drop Calendar – Registrar’s Office University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh
Spring 2026 registration information:
- Graduate Students – October 27
- Senior: 90+ credits completed – October 27 – October 31
- Junior: 60-89 credits completed – November 3-7
- Sophomore: 30-59 credits completed – November 10-14
- Freshmen: 0-29 credits completed – November 17-25
Transfer Course Re-evaluation Request/Transfer Record Update Request Forms will no longer be used. We are replacing the form with a simple email to tchelp@uwosh.edu.

The Internship & Career Fair on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 is more than a job fair—it’s a chance for students at every stage to explore possibilities, meet employers, and practice networking. Faculty encouragement is one of the strongest drivers of student attendance. A simple class announcement, tying attendance to an assignment, or offering extra credit can help normalize career exploration as part of the college experience. READ Center
New Course Offering: ACAD 176 – Collegiate Reading
The READ Center is excited to introduce a new one-credit, online course designed to foster lifelong reading and critical engagement: ACAD 176: Collegiate Reading. This course begins on October 22nd. (7W2 session) Each semester a new book will be selected, and the variable topic allows students to enroll in the course more than once.
This structured book study invites students to explore themes and ideas from a selected book each semester, while developing essential skills in critical reading, thinking, discussion, and writing. The course culminates in a creative project that connects the reading to real-life applications.
Students may enroll in the course multiple times, as each semester features a new book. For Fall 2025, the selected title is Stolen Focus by Johann Hari—a compelling exploration of attention, distraction, and the modern world.
Faculty are encouraged to share this opportunity with students who are looking to enrich their academic experience through thoughtful reading and discussion.
