Project Success – Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for Project Success services?

Project Success works only with students with language-based learning and/or attentional disabilities. The average profile of an incoming freshman student in the Project Success program includes difficulty in one or more of the following areas:  reading decoding and/or comprehension, mathematics, written expression and spelling.  Therefore, we do not use staff time trying to work with a wide variety of populations and instead focus on providing the best resources and services for students with language-based learning and/or attentional disabilities. If you are unsure if you are a candidate for our program, please reach out to connect with our staff.

What are the expectations for Project Success students?

Student accountability and responsibility are an important part of developing independence. Therefore, Project Success students are expected to:

  • Attend each scheduled appointment
  • Contact their Organizational Tutor if they need to reschedule
  • Be on time for appointments
  • Prepare specific questions in advance
  • Bring necessary materials (writing, books, notes, etc.)
  • Have a ready-to-learn mindset

How much does Project Success charge for its services?

There is no charge for Project Success services during the academic year above and beyond the student’s normal resident or nonresident tuition.

Project Success services are connected to the Success 101 organizational tutoring course.

How do I set up my accommodations?

Each student is responsible for advocating for his/her own accommodations in college. At the start of each semester (Fall, J-Term, Spring, May-Term, Summer), any current Project Success student who plans to utilize accommodations should review their current accommodation plan and reach out to CADR at any time if any modifications or concerns arise. It is the student’s responsibility to participate in the interactive process and collaborate with their instructors to implement accommodations. Accommodation plans will be generated for the student to share with their course instructors through Accommodate at the start of each term.

If a new class is added after submitting a term request, the student will need to submit a new request for the accommodation plan letter to be sent to the new instructor.

To help create an efficient process for students and instructors, CADR staff members are available to work with students and explain the process for setting up specific accommodations.

What should I do if I have a question about my accommodations?

The Accommodation plan lists the specific accommodations that the student may use, including (but not limited to) extended testing time, distraction-reduced environment, access to a reader for exams and quizzes, access to a note-taker, and/or electronic books.

Any student who has questions regarding their accommodations or the use of services should contact a CADR staff member. Project Success staff members are here to help students learn and apply the strategies and skills to become academically independent as they progress through their college coursework. Because our office is student services oriented, it is helpful to call or email ahead of time to set up an appointment.

How do I request test accommodations?

Project Success and CADR do not oversee any testing accommodations; however, we do share the same office with Accommodated Testing. Accommodated Testing is overseen by testing services. For more information about submitting test requests, please visit the Accommodated Testing website or email them at accommodatedtesting@uwosh.edu.
