Dining Accommodations

Students can find delicious, convenient meals at multiple dining locations on campus. The Center for Accessibility & Disability Resources collaborates with Dining Services to review and implement requests for dining accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Some accommodations may include:

Access to the Allergen Friendly Room

The Allergen Friendly Room is a designated, secure room located inside Blackhawk Commons that students with food allergies and specialty diets may utilize. The room is secured to ensure the safety of the students utilizing it and minimizes the chance of misuse or cross contamination.Consultations with our Executive Chef can be arranged by our Dining Dietitian to discuss potential menu changes based on your needs. Additional information about the allergen friendly room can be found on the dining website.

Alternative Meal Plans

Alternative meal plan accommodations are designed to support students’ health and well-being while ensuring full participation in campus life. Depending on individual disability-related needs an alternative meal plan may be recommended to provide access to specific dining locations on campus to meet the student’s needs. This process is personalized and confidential, with CADR and Dining Services working closely with each student to find a solution that fits their specific requirements.

Meal Plan Exemption

In some cases, a meal plan exemption may be granted as an accommodation when a student’s medical condition or disability makes standard and alternative meal plans impractical or impossible to use due to disability-related limitations or barriers.

Dining Accommodation Request Process

  1. Student submits an accommodation request to CADR. If the student is already registered with CADR, they can fill out a supplementary accommodation request with CADR.
  2. Student submits documentation to CADR.
  3. Student completes an intake appointment with CADR and the Dining Dietician

Students who are seeking dining accommodations for non-disability related needs, should work directly with Dining Services.
