Design Basics for Business II

August 25, 2017 9 am - 4 pm at UW Oshkosh Sage Hall

Design Basics II is an intermediate graphic design class. This course will build upon the design foundations established in Design Basics I. With a more in depth look into the Adobe Creative Cloud; the course will provide attendees with skills necessary to generate new ideas, cultivate creativity, express concepts succinctly, communicate through design, and create logos and brochures. If you are a small business, nonprofit organization, or independent business professional who would like to build upon existing graphic design skills then this is the course for you. 

Intermediate knowledge and experience with Adobe software is recommended for this course and knowledge of the Macintosh operating system is required, though the skills gained will be transferable to PCs.

Objectives of the Workshop:

  • Development of fundamental design skills through visual problem-solving processes
  • Introduction to the terminology and function of typography and graphic design
  • Exploration of technical aspects of photo reproduction and resolution for print and web

Instructor:

Kevin Rau earned his Bachelor of Science in Art and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Formerly design director for New Jersey’s Fairleigh Dickinson University, he has operated his own studio since 1997, and performed as design faculty for the University of Wisconsin system since 2004. Kevin has created materials for Sony, Shelcore Toys, Shelton Hall University, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Culver’s Restaurants, and many others. His work has been featured in top industry publications from around the world.
