Biology Minor

Recommended for students who are interested in Biology. This minor can be pursued by students in any college of the University.

Required Units (crs.): 24 minimum

Required Courses:

  • Biology: Biology 105, 230, 231, 323, 349

Electives: (6 or more credits) 300 level classes from the offerings of the Department of Biology.

Note: Electives used to fulfill a Biology Minor may not be counted toward a Microbiology major or minor.

Microbiology Minor

Recommended for students who are majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or other allied health fields.

Required Units (crs.): 23 minimum

Required Courses:

  • Biology 105 or 108, 309, 323

Electives: (11 credits to include at least one lab-only course) from the following:

  • Biology: 312, 315, 321, 327, 339, 341, 343, 354, 375, 450
  • Biology Labs Only: 313, 374

Health, Humanities and Society Minor

The Health, Humanities and Society Minor is an interdisciplinary minor administered by the department of Sociology & Public Administration. It’s for students interested in public health, medicine, nursing, population studies, health or public administration, and others who seek to develop their health-related education through perspectives beyond the traditional, biomedical lens.

Required Units (crs.): 15 minimum

Required Courses:

  • Philosophy 231 – Biomedical Ethics
  • Sociology/SJ 317 – Sociology of Health & Illness

Electives: (choose 3 from the below list from 3 different departments)
