Biomedical Science Major

The Biomedical Science Major at UW-Oshkosh comprises the common requirements for most graduate health profession programs, making it appropriate for PreMedicine, PreDentistry, PreOptometry, PrePhysician Assistant, PrePharmacy, and the like. It is also a good choice for those wishing involvement in biomedical research. A Biomedical Science major ensures that the student will be trained in anatomy, cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and physiology — covering many content areas found on professional admission exams (MCAT, DAT, OAT, PCAT, etc.). Electives includes special-interest courses such as Entomology, Epidemiology, Environmental Toxicology, Food & Public Health Microbiology, Immunology, Neurobiology, and Parasitology. This major does not mandate Calculus or Physics but, if needed, these can easily be added to a 4-year graduate plan.
