The Department of Biology offers two graduate programs for students who are interested in advancing their career and education. Our programs offer a variety of topics and tracks, allowing students to select the program and focus that best suits them. Discover which program best fits you! Our graduate programs are designed to provide the advanced training appropriate for professional competitiveness in public and private job sectors. They also prepare students to pursue a Ph.D. or other advanced degree at another university.
Master of Science
Biology or Microbiology
The MS in Biology or Microbiology is a thesis-based graduate degree, which means students undertake supported and independent research.
Students can choose an emphasis in biology or microbiology.
Both programs follow the same general requirements but will differ in the subject of the graduate thesis.
Master of Science
Professional Science
The MS in Professional Science is an interdisciplinary program, with an internship as the culminating experience. The four tracks are microbiology and food science, water science, sustainable energy and individually planned.
Courses offered in this program combine science and business topics for a well-rounded, professional program.
