Due to staffing limitations, we are only able to offer limited Girl Scout programs at this time. Please see the dates below. We hope that our regular scouting programs will be able to return sometime in the future.
However, the Barlow is open for scout groups to have field trips. Please visit our Scout Field Trip Reservation Page to investigate our age appropriate offerings and submit an online field trip request.

This is a special Our Place in Space presentation for just Lions and Tigers with their leaders, parents, family and friends!
Science is all about asking questions and investigating answers. Our Place is Space handles the earliest science questions that students about their world: What causes day and night? How does the Moon change shape? What causes the seasons to change? Each program ends with a tour of the constellations, stars and planets that are in the current nighttime sky.

Wolf/Bear Planetarium Show

This is a special Solar System Exploration presentation for just Wolves and Bears with their leaders, parents, family and friends!
Visit each of the 8 planets in our solar system, many of the fascinating moons, the dwarf planets, and, of course, our Sun. This is a highly interactive program where the audience gets to select the order in which each of the planets if visited. Each show concludes with a tour of the current nighttime sky – stars, constellations and planets – as seen from the Fox Valley and Northeast Wisconsin.
Webelos/Arrow of Light Astronomy & Space Investigator Day

This is a special workshop for scouts about Barlow’s two favorite subjects: astronomy AND space.
Visit each of the planets in our solar system in the unique and interactive environment of the Barlow. Learn about the science of space travel with demonstrations of Newton’s Laws, see liquid nitrogen at 321 F, watch a space shuttle thermal protection tile handles a 3000 F torch all while learning about the past, present and future of space exploration. Do interesting astronomy and space activities.
BOY SCOUTS
Astronomy Merit Badge
Duration: 6 total hours in 3 visits

The Boy Scout Astronomy Merit Badge is a very thorough, intense and rewarding activity. The Barlow Planetarium Astronomy Merit Badge program is designed to be completed in less than 5 weeks. Scouts are introduced to all the requirements and required homework activities on the first visit, have a mid-course evaluation on the second visit, and a final evaluation on the last visit.
REQUIREMENTS:
> Scouts must be 13 years old or older.
> Scouts must have Merit Badge Series: ASTRONOMY available through the council store and read it prior to the first workshop session.
Space Exploration Merit Badge
Duration: 6 total hours in 3 visits

Fee: $70/scout
The Boy Scout Space Exploration Merit Badge is a very thorough, intense and rewarding activity. The Barlow Planetarium Space Merit Badge program is designed to be completed in less than 1 month. Scouts are introduced to all the requirements, required homework activities and build their rockets on the first visit have a mid-course rocket launch and evaluation on the second visit, and a final evaluation on the last visit.
REQUIREMENTS:
> Scouts must be 13 years old or older.
> Scouts must have Merit Badge Series: SPACE EXPLORATION available through the council store and read it prior to the first workshop session.
