Field Trip Fees

  • Single Barlow Program:  $6/student (up to 98 people)
  • Double Barlow Program:  $11/student – 2 programs (up to 98 people)
  • Triple Barlow Program:  $15.00/student – 3 programs (up to 98  people)

MINIMUM FEES (Based on 15 students/2 adults)

  • > Single Barlow Program Minimum Group Fee:  $90
  • > Double Barlow Program Minimum Group Fee:  $165
  • > Triple Barlow Program Minimum Group Fee:  $225

PRE-PAY DISCOUNT – Pay four (4) weeks in advance to receive a $1 discount per student per program.

MAXIMUM CAPACITIES –  Please note that the Barlow Planetarium has a max capacity of 98 people per show and the Weis Museum has a max capacity of 60 per tour.

 

 

INTERACTIVE PLANETARIUM EXPERIENCES

The Friendly Sky (Grades PK & K)

The Friendly Sky is designed to be the best possible introduction to astronomy and the planetarium environment for the youngest of students. Students use their imaginations and the stars to play a celestial game of connect-the-dots. Each program ends with a tour of the constellations, stars and planets that are in the current nighttime sky. 50 minutes

Our Place in Space (Grades 1 & 2)

Science is all about asking questions and investigating answers. Our Place in Space handles the earliest science questions that students about their world: What causes day and night?  How does the Moon change shape?  What causes the seasons to change? Each program ends with a tour of the constellations, stars and planets that are in the current nighttime sky. 50 minutes

Solar System Exploration (Grades 3-5)

The solar system is a truly amazing place filled with fascinating worlds just waiting to be discovered. Students will see some of the latest images of the Sun, planets, moons and dwarf planets. Each program ends with a tour of the constellations, stars and planets that are in the current nighttime sky. 50 minutes

Galactic Quest (Grades 6-8)

Our home galaxy, The Milky Way, is filled with 200 billion stars. Galactic Quest tours your student past the most interesting objects in our galaxy – stars, nebulae, star clusters – to learn how stars are born, how they are classified, and the amazing ways they end their lives. Each program ends with a tour of the constellations, stars and planets that are in the current nighttime sky. 50 minutes

Universe (Grades 9-12)

When discussing the universe, the facts can be truly amazing and mind-boggling. How large is the universe?  How old is the universe?  Universe not only answers these questions, but also explorers the spectacular methods astronomers used to find the answers.  Each program ends with a tour of the constellations, stars and planets that are in the current nighttime sky. 50 minutes

 

INTERACTIVE CLASSROOM SCIENCE PROGRAM

Light, Color, Astronomy! (Grades 3-12) 

Light, Color & Astronomy is a new classroom program created and presented by  Barlow Planetarium Director Dr. Teri Gee. In this program Dr. Gee takes the students on an adventure through the electromagnetic spectrum and how light reveals the hidden secrets of the cosmos. Light, Color & Astronomy makes a perfect compliment to any of our planetarium programs.  50 minutes

Bear Tales & Other Grizzly Stories (Grades K-6)

Bear Tales features a variety of stories as told by Grandpa Ben and his family as they camp out under the stars of early-summer. While sitting around the campfire, learn the stories of several constellations. 50 minutes

Daughter of the Stars (Grades K-8)

The earliest inhabitants of North America had legends about the sky quite different from their Mediterranean and Asian counterparts. This program showcases a number of these legends from tribes across the entire continent. 50 minutes

Eclipse: The Sun Revealed (Grades 6-12)

Take a journey through historical and cultural views of eclipses. Learn about the geometry that gives us eclipses, how to safely view an eclipse, and some scientific discoveries that have been made using eclipses. 50 minutes

Did an Asteroid Really Kill the Dinosaurs? (Grades 6-12)

Did a space rock six miles wide slam into the Earth 66 million years ago and wipe out 75 percent of all living species at that time, including the dinosaurs? Explore this impact and cosmic collisions across the Solar System. 50 minutes

Space Aliens (Grades 6-12)

Join our alien experts — “Hopeful” and “Skeptical” – as they examine Xtra-terrestrial files and try to convince each other whether or not life exists beyond the Earth. 50 minutes

Stories in the Sky (Grades 6-12)

Have mythology come to life with an in-depth tour of the nighttime sky. 50 minutes
