By participating in the immersion program, UWO students will observe both an instructional coach and K-12 teacher utilizing arts-integrated strategies in classrooms. Students are encouraged to participate in teaching activities if coaches and teachers find it appropriate and would enhance students’ capacity as a future educator. Students are required to initiate an initial meeting with the District’s ArtsCore Coordinator, at least a 2-hour conference with both coach and teacher, (can be done collectively or individually), and complete a participation reflection report.

Kenzie Hanson is one of the ArtsCore Scholarship for Preservice Teachers recipients. She is an art education and will complete her immersion program with the Oshkosh Area School District at Vel Philips Middle School. She will observe instructional coach Krista Frenz and teacher Casey Abrahamson.
