ArtsCore Scholarship

Apply for scholarships which are awarded to incoming freshman admitted to UW Oshkosh. Applicants must be planning to major in education and have an interest in arts integrated instruction. The scholarship is renewable.

UW Oshkosh ArtsCore offers curricular opportunities, professional development, internships, residencies, grants, and a support network for pre-service teacher candidates and new teachers learning to practice an arts-integrated approach to teaching. This renewable scholarship award supports incoming students majoring in a field of education who articulate the desire to teach with and through creative experiences and the arts. Through their potential participation in ArtsCore initiatives, recipients may share and develop demonstrable competence in this approach to enhance their effectiveness as a future teacher.


  1. In keeping with ArtsCore objectives, preference will be given to applicants from PK-12 partner school districts which serve their students through a commitment to arts-integrated instruction, staff professional development, and host ArtsCore teacher field experiences and candidates in residency.
  2. A secondary preference will be given to students from rural schools when applicable.


  1. The recipients of this scholarship must be accepted and subsequently enrolled as full-time education major students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Recipients must also be enrolled during the subsequent Fall semester when the award is to be renewed.
  2. Consideration will be given to recipients with a 3.00 cumulative GPA on high school and/or college course work. Additional academic success indicators may be considered at the discretion of the selection committee.
  3. Through the application and selection process, applicants must demonstrate commitment to, and potential for a successful career as a professional educator at any level.  They must further demonstrate an intent and capability to participate in ArtsCore initiatives to develop and share effective arts-integrated teaching strategies.

Initial Application Process:

  1. Applicants must submit a statement describing their educational, personal, and career goals, their experiences in the arts, and highlighting reasons why they are a strong candidate for the award.
  2. Applicants must submit a resume or list of school, academic, volunteer, and work activities.
  3. Applicants must submit a minimum of 2 letters of support from individuals who know their potential for success.
  4. Applicants must submit a copy of their high school or college transcript if available.

Renewal Process:

  1. Continuing UW Oshkosh students will receive the award for up to 4 years, provided they are in good standing and maintain the criteria of the award.
  2. Award recipients must submit an annual statement describing their involvement with ArtsCore initiatives, accompanied by a resume or list of school, academic, volunteer, and work activities.

The Award:

  1. $1,500
