Content Focus: The content focus is learning to use various technology tools for digital creation.

Language Focus: Speaking, listening, reading

Vocabulary Focus: Elements of song and videography.

Standards:

  • Students in Wisconsin will be able to define problems, gather information, explore options, devise a solution, evaluate the outcome, and communicate the results.
  • C8.2 Explain and demonstrate several solutions to a problem or opportunity using technological design, tools, careful planning, experimentation, and testing
  • C8.5 Explain the value of technical knowledge and teamwork in the development of a device or process

 

Arts Integration: Arts integration during this unit focuses on learning about the elements of song and visual cinematic arts strategies for creating a music video.

Lesson Objectives:

  • I will learn to use digital music making software to design an original song or a song remix.
  • I will learn to use WeVideo to create a music video for my original song or remix.

 

Activities: 

  • Look at and discuss what makes a good song
  • Explore a variety of digital music making programs
  • Create an original song or a remix of a song
  • Learn how video edit and use the green screen
  • Look at a variety of music video clips to discuss ideas and what makes a good video
  • Storyboard an idea for a music video
  • Create an original music video
  • Present Videos

 

Engagement/Introduction: The introduction for this activity looks at listening to music and having a discussion about what makes a good song. Students can share out their favorite school appropriate songs during the discussion.

Assessment Procedure: Students are assessed with a rubric based on if they have met the learning goals.

Materials:

  • Computers with access to the internet
  • WeVideo or video editing software
  • Paper
  • Colored Pencils
  • Optional: green screen, musical instruments
