Standards:

  • WI.SELC Self-Awareness.6th-8th: Learners will be able to recognize and label a variety of complex graded emotions in self and others.
  • AD.CR.1.m (CREATE): Students will generate, develop, and refine artistic work by exploring how colors and lines convey emotions.

 

Arts Integration:Students will analyze and depict their emotions through abstract art while learning to understand emotional expression in themselves and others.

Lesson Objectives:

  • Integration: Students will analyze and depict their emotions through abstract art while learning to understand emotional expression in themselves and others.

 

Activities: 

  • Explore the element of line in art and the different variations of lines in art.
  • Explore emotions can be represented through different lines and colors.
  • Observe and evaluate where you see color, line, and emotion in different art pieces.
  • Connect emotion to art by creating a piece of art that depicts one or more emotions.
  • Reflection and Share.

  • Learn about what Line is in art.
  • Explore how colors represent emotions.
  • Explore how variations in lines can represent emotions.
  • Explore artwork that conveys emotion through lines and color.

Assessment Procedure: The assessment is the final culminating piece of art. Was the student able to use color and line to convey their emotions?
