There were many issues in the United States moving into the 1800s. There were issues with housing and overcrowding in cities because of immigration and an industrial boom. Working conditions in factories needed to be upgraded for the safety of the workers. Schools and prisons were lacking in resources and materials needed to provide a safe environment. Women were fighting for their rights, and abolitionists were fighting to free the slaves in the South. On top of all of this, alcohol was an increasing problem that led to poor decision making and affected every part of society. 8th Grade students learned about these Reform Movements and the people who worked to change American in this arts integrated project!
