Art Minors

Required Units (crs.): 24 minimum

Recommended for students who wish for a basic background in the studio arts as a complement to another major.

• Required Courses:  Art 102Q1 or 111, 112, 114, 209, and 210
• Electives (9 crs.):  Sufficient courses from the Department’s offerings in 2-Dimensional Studio, 3-Dimensional Studio, and Graphic Design to meet the minimum requirement.

Required Units (crs.): 21 minimum

Recommended for students who wish to aquire a grounding in art history, museum studies, and visual culture.

• Required Courses: Art 209 and 210
• Area Requirements (9 crs.):  Students will choose from at least 3 of the 4 following periods of art:
  • Ancient:  Art 310, 325
  • Medieval:  Art 311, 312
  • Early Modern:  Art 313, 314, 315, 316
  • Contemporary/Modern:  Art 320, 321, 322, 323, 324

• Electives (6 crs.)*:  Students may choose additional courses from any of the above, or from:
  • Art 308, 317, 318, 327, 482*, or 484*

*May fulfill one of the period requirements, depending on content (as approved by instructor).
