APPLYING TO UWO

Earn College Credit in High School

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh offers three routes for current high school students to earn college credit while still in high school.

Cooperative Academic Partnership Program (CAPP)

Calculus 2 with Richard Bolda for CAPPThrough CAPP, UW Oshkosh partners with specific high schools to enroll academically qualified students in college level courses. These courses are taught by University-approved instructors at the students high school. CAPP students experience the academic rigor of college course work while remaining with their high school peers.

If you don’t know whether your school offers CAPP, please visit our list of high schools participating in the CAPP program.

Early College Credit Program (ECCP)

ECCP is a program created by the State of Wisconsin Legislature. This program allows qualified high school students to enroll in college courses approved by their local school board with all or most of the cost paid by the local school district and the state. Classes are taught on the UWO campus or online and include current UWO students.

To participate, a high school student must apply to both the local school board and be admitted to UWO as an Early College Credit student. For details about the ECCP application process, visit the ECCP program website.

High School Special Students

If you do not qualify for CAPP or ECCP, you may earn college credit by taking classes through our High School Special program. Classes are taught either on the UWO campus or online and include current UWO students. Students approved for admission to the High School Special program must meet admissions requirements and any course specific prerequisites prior to enrolling. High School special students are responsible for paying all tuition and fees. For more information, explore our class list.

To apply, students must be in high school and should submit a Universities of Wisconsin application. On the application you should select “NO” when asked if you are a degree-seeking student and you will choose High School Student when prompted to choose your Major/Program.

UW Oshkosh sophomore Natalie Flom is one of many students who earned college credits before heading to UWO. “I knew that by taking Chemistry 101 in high school, I could get ahead in classes and it would be cheaper and I could get more one-on-one time with the teacher than if I took it in college.” Read more about Natalie and other CAPP Titans →

If you have questions related to CAPP, please contact the CAPP office at capp@uwosh.edu or (920) 424-3003.
