The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus and greater Oshkosh community are invited to an author chat and book-signing event Thursday, Nov. 29, with William Povletich ’95, author of the new Green Bay Packers: Trials, Triumphs and Tradition, from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.

Povletich will speak from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Pollock Alumni House about his book and sign copies, which will be available for purchase for $26.95.

The event, sponsored by UWO Alumni Relations and the Winnebago County Literacy Council, is in partnership with the radio-TV-film department. UWO Student Alumni Ambassadors will be on hand to wrap the books for free, a special service to help participants get  a head start on their holiday shopping for the Packers fans in their life.

A Wisconsin native, Povletich graduated from UWO with a radio-TV-film major and received the Alumni Association’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 2003.  He is the author of Some Like It Cold: A Sheboygan Surfin’ Safari (Clerisy Press, 2010), Milwaukee Braves: Heroes and Heartbreak (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2009) and Green Bay Packers: Legends in Green and Gold (Arcadia Publishing, 2005).

An Emmy Award-nominated and Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker whose works have received both international acclaim and audience success, Povletich recently produced Police Women of Broward County for TLC, Beach Patrol for Court TV, and A Braves New World for Milwaukee Public Television.

To reserve a book(s) in advance, send a check payable to the Winnebago County Literacy Council for $26.95 each, to University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Alumni Relations Office, Pollock Alumni House, 800 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI 54901.
